The Last Of The Loaded Gun. Inspiration And Exultation In Canadian Music

In the while since the media jackpot known as The Age Of Terror began, even more than before, the tradition of inspirational anthem chants has been revived and refreshed in Canadian song. Canadian song writers have been labouring at the wall of spiritual denial that the hive mind invests with such irony and confidence.

The Canadian tradition of Pragmatic Self Redemptive divinely derived music posits that lyrical therapy, evocations, meditations, devotional psychedelia, new age timbres and spirit drums can redeem altruism and surrendered goals.

Blessed are the peacemakers who help us make peace with ourselves.

Here are some: for the-past-present-and-future.

Heads In Like A Line Dance And Tails Out Like A Lambada

These Canadians have been busy in hibernal seclusion, organizing and fermenting Spring music, and the results are by turns sprightly, sincere and celebratory. Many hands make the lights work.

Big tunes for the brightening weeks to come. I will be continuing to feature them as they roll in wave upon wave.

#Elage Diouf, # Bentall Taylor Ulrich, #Modern Space, #The Bills, #Christa Couture, #Federal Lights, #Rebecca Binnendyk, #Lynn Miles, #Steve Dawson, #Steven Page, #Matt Patershuk, #Donovan Woods, #Sundar Viswanathan & Avataar, #Mike Janzen, #Anne Walker, #Jordan Klassen, #Corin Raymond, #neema, #Amanda Tosoff, #Quincy Bullen.

That's Just Bonnie Raitt Creepin' Up On You.

At the Sony Center in Toronto tonight, Bonnie got us all inspired and excited and what came around went around.
She came on with a stomping, sinuous & sexy version of INXS' Need You Tonight. Turns out it was true. You know how she do.

Her grace and gratitude for a loving audience shone in prisms all night. Heavy on the blue scale.

After a mid-set standing ovation for Angel From Montgomery and a surprise version of I Feel The Same, she finished us off with an extended encore of I Can't Make You Love Me, Love Creepin' Up On You and Sweet And Shiny Eyes.

And openers The California Honeydrops displayed Olympic-level instrumental skills and deep vocal integrity in every song, including Wilson Pickett's Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You and an epic Drowned In My Own Tears.

Some Fun Out Of Life, produced by John `Beetle`Bailey.
But first, she'll be all up in the Orbit, live at 6:00 to prepare us for that special event with a little listening party and some insight into her gregarious artistic propositions: that the fun is here and now,
the sky won't fall,
and all you need to do is listen close.

Arrangements have also been made with the four members of 2015 TIMA Awards winners Birds Of Bellwoods to enter the Orbital flight simulator at around 6:15 and perform a few tunes live that are slated to premier at their Saturday night concert at the Drake Underground.

What goes up, must go around.
You come around, too.

Corby`s Orbit airs live on Radio Regent Toronto on Fridays from 5:00 to 7:00.
