Modeled on the viral Jamaican Sleng Teng riddim of the mid-80’s, The Memberz have brought in new dimensions on their single release from October 2024, Addis Ababa, sprinkled with great new melodies and harmonies. Some of the most outstanding draws of the song are its addictive keyboard hook, Chris Brophy's assertive alto sax solo and the air-horned welcome by Slingshot from Toronto’s King Turbo Sound. The lyrics swing from describing the danger and excitement of a 905 Jamaican DJ dance party to an acknowledgement of the pervasively benign influence of Rastafari over the entire cultural event. Intensity builds throughout the song with the insistent bass line and single droning chord penetrating the listener’s frame of mind with the physically and spiritually redemptive possibilities of dance.

Big up Michael Garrick Patrick McDoom Howard Moore Sunray Grennan Jason Wilson Music @Correxion and crew. Patrick Roots held the crowd like velcro and celebrity sightings included Jeffrey Holdip Christopher James Hatton Reuben Kincaid and David Hynes.
