Heart Above Head - She & Him

At the Sound Academy last night, the audience of over 3000 were thrilled with the cutest music available to modern society as Zooey & M channeled Dick & Deedee. Shiny haired girls predominated in the packed room, but M. Ward fans were humbled as the producer/ guitarist laid back from centre stage providing only harmonies and succinct guitar accompaniment. Ms. Deschanel and The Chapin Sisters and their flouncy dresses and bunny hopping gave zest to their gorgeous melodic and nostalgic aspirations towards reviving the clean and clear"eternal springtime" of AM radio-pop from the late fifties and early sixties. Even the awful sound design of the room couldn't suppress the heart-sparking soulspeak of true love and tear stained guitars.
