Vocal Warming

The Sunlight Of Song penetrates the media miasma, and other prevailing ill winds, all day today on Corby's Orbit. The outlook is favourable.

Denielle Bassels has a well-swung collection of torch and jump jewels all threaded together on her new disk, What About Wool Wishbags. Debuting it live at Toronto’s Lula Lounge with a nonet next Wednesday, February 8, at 7:30 pm., she will be ready to rhumba at 5:20 in the studio, with a few live tunes featuring Jacob Gorzhaltsan on clarinet, Nathan Hiltz on guitar and Scott Hunter on upright bass.

Then, at 6:00 as dusk brings the week to a wind-down, we'll just be getting up into the mighty glow of inspiration with Susan Aglukark when she calls in from Canadian song heaven, aka Oakville, to talk about her work, her plans, and her upcoming Unique Lives presentation at Roy Thompson Hall. Honours and blessings continue for her as she enters her 50th year.

And finally, at 6:20 or so, we will be graced by an undulating balmy breeze blowing up from New Orleans, as Judith Owen and her whole string-and-bow-brandishing band (anchored by bass-master Leland Sklar) provide a live showcase of her new album, Somebody's Child. She performed it exclusively from start to finish at a private event in Toronto last night. Sharing an invigorating passion with firebrand piano posing, hair pyrotechnics and intimate, confident banter, she made the whole room her salon.

And they will be returning to prove it all over again, at Gallery 345 on April 2nd as part of a world tour that has already swept through Europe and Australia.

Listen up today on Radio Regent.from 5:00 - 7:00 for an opportunity to bypass the collectors ramp and soar above the clowns. Also new music from Rose Cousins, Kayla Luky, Elvin Bishop and BEYRIES.
