Venturing Forth With Way North And Comparing Mythologies With Andrea Ramolo


Way North is a cross-border quartet of Canadian and American artists playing folk and world music with its backbone in jazz. 



Formed in Brooklyn in 2014 by three Canadians and a New Yorker, the band features saxophonist Petr Cancura who has played for Danilo Pere &the Mighty Popo, bassist Michael Herring, lately of Peripheral Vision, and American drummer Richie Barshay who has worked with Herbie Hancock,Chick Corea & Esperanza Spalding.


Joining the Orbit at 5:30, trumpeter/ composer / bandleader Rebecca Hennessy (2018 Toronto Emerging Jazz Artist / Women’s Blues Revue bandleader) will be sharing some pieces from their new disk, Fearless And Kind, and projecting details of the band's trajectory over the next few weeks as it embarks on a mini-tour of Ontario and Québec:

At 6:00 Toronto singer / songwriter Andrea Ramolo will be in Orbit, reflecting upon the influence of Leonard Cohen on her life and growth
Her passion for his work, on the second anniversary of his passing, has inspired the release of a new album, Homage, featuring her impressionistic interpretations of ten of his songs. Launching Homage at Burdock this coming Wednesday evening, Andrea will soon be supporting the release with a coast to coast tour including:
