Canada Day Dazzle: Forest, Goat, Dubzz and Toth

In Canada we always like to have some wilderness in our music, and the songs of Lake Forest have all the tranquility and foreboding that chilly mist and sunshine can provide.

Secret identity spoiler: Will Whitwham of “The Wilderness of Manitoba” opens the Orbit to his sylvan aspects at 5:30 this Friday with performance and chat along with Tom Bona, whom Will will join at Burdock  on Friday, July 8 for  a Soulstack show.

From acoustic power trio Ten Strings And A Goat Skin comes the celebratory verve and the cumulative effects of P.E.I. soil and hot stoves. They will be calling in a report at 5:45 from the beginning of their summer tour supporting their fierce new disc Auprès du Poêle . The full story arrives at Hugh`s Room on Thursday 7 July and continues at 2016`s Mariposa Folk Festival July 9-10.

We grow a lot of free-range poetry up here in Canada and a well-curated show of some of our best verse-croppers is happening at the Free Times Cafe next weekend. Two of our most bountifully lyrical performers,
Carmen Toth and Clifton Joseph
will be up in the Orbit after 6:00 to discuss and display a bit of the power of the word.
